Air India Flight AI171 Crashes in Ahmedabad, 150 Feared Dead in Worst Airline Tragedy in Years
Rescue operations are underway in Ahmedabad after an Air India flight heading to London crashed with 242 people on board. Fire brigade officers said that they removed 150 bodies so far. Most of the bodies recovered have been charred beyond recognition. Rescuers have rushed the victims to nearby hospitals. The plane had crashed into a hostel building near the airport. Authorities fear some of the hostel inmates are also killed. The flight was carrying 169 Indians, 53 British nationals, 1 Canadian and 7 Portuguese passengers.
