Opportunities for residents and businesses to help guide the future of one downtown Pasco park, as well as those across the city, are coming up.
An outreach meeting to provide input on the revitalization of the northern portion of Peanuts Park is set for 6-7 p.m. June 17. A broader outreach meeting on the city’s overall park standards will be from 6-7:30 p.m. June 18.
Both meetings will be in the Pasco City Council chambers and will be available online and offer Spanish translation.
The city revitalized the southern portion of Peanuts Park, which is where the Pasco Farmers Market is held, several years ago, installing new permanent canopies and other improvements for nearly $6 million.
The northern part of the park is on the northern side of Lewis Street between furniture store Galeria La Estrella and Cristina’s Flower Shop. City officials have hired MT-LA Consultants to facilitate the design of the project, according to a release.
“This project will introduce new hardscape elements and features to create an open, user-friendly space. The focus will be on enhancing safety and security and ensuring the park is enjoyable for patrons of all ages,” the city said in a statement.

The city has contracted another consultant firm, MIG, to help develop park design standards for new parks as well as those being updated and enhanced. Community input is needed to ensure those standards meet needs and expectations.
“Whether it’s more walking trails, accessible play equipment, exercise stations, trees, athletic courts or splash pads – your feedback matters. These conversations will help ensure that neighborhood parks reflect the needs and priorities of Pasco residents,” the city said in a statement.
